Community Health in Corbin

Breast Cancer Awareness: Baptist Health Corbin’s annual Paint the Town Pink Glow Run, which supports the Tri-County Cancer Coalition, celebrates the strong network in place for women and families fighting breast cancer in eastern Kentucky.

Smoking Cessation: When Jeff Jones began coughing, having trouble breathing, and struggling to do yardwork, he attended a smoking-cessation class at Baptist Health Floyd. The strategies he learned helped him kick a two-pack-a-day habit.

Community Health in La Grange

Opioid Addiction: Baptist Health La Grange volunteer Noah Meece coordinated a drug take back program for his Eagle Scout project. The program allowed community members to dispose of unused prescription medications during the hospital’s health fair.

Community Mental Health in Lexington

Diabetes Prevention Program: After learning she was pre-diabetic, Cynthia Barton participated in the 12-month, science-based Diabetes Prevention Program at Baptist Health Lexington. She learned to exercise, watch her portion sizes, and make better choices.

Community Health in Louisville

Cardiac Wellness: Triathlete John Zeydel looked to Baptist Health Louisville’s cardiac rehabilitation program to help him regain his strength and confidence after a heart blockage sidelined him while training for an Olympic-distance race.

Community Health in Madisonville

Blood Pressure Screening: Brad Franklin learned of his dangerously high blood pressure during a simple screening offered by Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, which partners with Hopkins County Community Clinic to provide care. Now, he’s lowered his numbers, which were at stroke level, with medication.

Project Fit: Baptist Health Paducah’s Project Fit program provides physical fitness equipment and a classroom curriculum to local schools to encourage students to learn good habits while they are young — and share them with their families.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Baptist Health Richmond’s annual Paint the Town Pink event brings survivors together with the community to emphasize the importance of early detection, encourage mammogram screenings and support healing.
